Lo-Quality Hunter: Helping Out the Guild

by on Feb.07, 2009, under Hunter

Some nights, I just really don’t have any plans. So I log on and figure I’ll do some dailies to build up my gold reserves. And for the heck of it, I put myself in Looking For Group, because you just never know when you’ll get to go somewhere interesting. Well, it wasn’t interesting, but I did get an invite to a Heroic Utgarde Pinnacle.

Lo-Quality Hunter: the 3.1 Hunter

by on Feb.06, 2009, under Hunter

Lots of posts today. It’s okay, nobody is reading anyway. It’s like talking to my cats except I can pass off typing on the computer as work. I can’t quite do the same when talking to furry creatures that only acknowledge me at dinnertime. They’ve been talking about the class changes coming in 3.1 and while I don’t feel qualified to discuss most of them, I do think the hunter changes need to be looked at.

Lo-Quality WoW: Being an Achievement Whore

by on Feb.06, 2009, under General

Ever since the inclusion of Achievements in WoW, there has been mixed feelings about them. Some people love them, going out of their way to kill turkeys or love a squirrel. Others loathe them, shunning the former group. And if you’ve been reading this blog, you know I’m deep into the former. Soon after their appearance, I was there, jumping from high places and eating all sorts of odd foods, trying to get achievements. Watching this, one of my guildmates immediately referred to me as an “Achievement Whore”, and yes sir, that’s what I am.

Lo-Quality Warrior: Dalaran Ho!

by on Feb.06, 2009, under Warrior

There’s always a brief sense of disorientation when I switch characters. I also don’t have the best memory, so there’s a minute or two of going “where the heck am I?” Usually followed by “what was I doing?” A quick look at the quest log and I’m off!

Lo-Quality Hunter: Quicky Pants

by on Feb.06, 2009, under Hunter

I’ll get into my impressions of the changes to the hunter class a bit later, after I’ve had some time to think it through a bit more. I probably should do it for all classes but I haven’t gotten to them all just yet. Oh well. But first off, let’s get into last night’s action.

Lo-Quality WoW: What’s In a Name?

by on Feb.05, 2009, under General

When I started playing WoW, I created my first character and was looking for a name. And I did what I usually do with characters in fantasy settings. I picked a letter and then merged a bunch of consonants and vowels until I came up with something that would plausibly be a name. Thus came my hunter Keyalnon. If you do a search on that name, you pretty much only find references to my character. Likewise, he’s the only character in the WoW armory with that name. It was unique. It helped define my character.

Lo-Quality Warrior: Where Was That?

by on Feb.05, 2009, under Warrior

It’s sort of odd running up my second character through the WotLK content. The focus is so different. The pace is a bit more relaxed, and half the time I only vaguely remembered what my hunter did when doing these quests. Of course, the main irony is that my warrior actually has the Northern Exposure achievement while my hunter has yet to run across one of those rare spawns, and I’ve played him so much more…

Lo-Quality Hunter: Still Booming

by on Feb.05, 2009, under Hunter

Work decided to keep me busy the past few days, although I did squeeze WoW time in of course. Not that this is being read anywhere. But quite a bit has happened over the past few days, so let’s see how much I can remember.

Lo-Quality Rogue: Can You Open This For Me?

by on Feb.02, 2009, under Rogue

The person who introduced me to WoW played a rogue. He loved it. His rogue would slaughter things left and right, with nary a care in the world. Watching his rogue take on higher level things and just devastate them was amazing to me. One of my guildmate’s friends joined in and his rogue was one of the most powerful characters I “knew”. At lvl 60, he would take us in to Stratholme where he would kill things so fast, I was lucky if I got a shot or two before it was dead. When BC came out, while I was leveling either every day or every other day, he was going up a level or two a day. Why did I create a rogue, with these fine examples to go by? I created her so she could open stuff for the guild…

Lo-Quality Hunter: New Mittens

by on Feb.02, 2009, under Hunter

Most of the day was spent doing SuperBowl related thing. In other words, I watched a lot of tv. But I did get some WoW time in and was semi-productive for some of it. Any night I end up with some new gear and achievements is nice. I could have really done without the irritating warlock in Auberdine though.
