Lo-Quality Warrior: Dalaran Ho!

by on Feb.06, 2009, under Warrior

There’s always a brief sense of disorientation when I switch characters. I also don’t have the best memory, so there’s a minute or two of going “where the heck am I?” Usually followed by “what was I doing?” A quick look at the quest log and I’m off!
I end up doing most of the Star’s Rest quests with my warrior. It’s a bit interesting since I did most of these quests with my hunter after he got cold weather flying. Which meant I actually had to spend some time trying to figure out how to get to certain places on foot. Fortunately, being a plate wearing tank means you can sort of shrug off the occasional mob attack as you wander around trying to find the right path.

I clear out the Star’s Rest quests, and a Moa’ki Harbor one as well, when I find myself heading for Wyrmrest Temple. And I was going to call it a night there since I was getting a bit tired. That is, until I make the mistake of looking at my xp bar. A bar and a half to go? Might as well do it!

So I find myself doing the introduction chain at Wyrmrest Temple. For the first part, you’re sent over to the Ruby Dragonshrine and one of the first things you do is help some npcs take out some mobs. When my hunter did it, well, he’s ranged so he sat back and shot stuff. My warrior didn’t have that luxury, so she had to get into the middle of it. Which wouldn’t have been bad except I accidentally pull the aggro of the elite mob in the group. We still kill the elite but I’m very, very low on hp and now have several other non-elite mobs on me. I survive then attend to the quests into the dragonshrine itself.

The quests inside go rather well. It does lead to the one of those moments where I’m glad I’m not on a PvP server. I’m doing the quest that has you deal with Dahlia Suntouch, the shrine’s former keeper when I see two other players show up behind me. It’s only after I finish killing her that I realize that the two who ran up were horde. We watch as the Remnant of Dahlia Suntouch shows up and relates her sad tale and while listening, two other horde show up. If this was a PvP server, more than likely I would have been ganked at this point. But since we’re not, we listen to the tale, bow to each other and I get my skinny night elf butt out of Dodge.

I finish up the introduction when I realize I’m just a little shy of leveling. Which leads to my warrior doing the Wyrmrest Accord daily, which is enough to level her. I then head back to the city to get my new skills. At this point I’m about to call it a night when I remember one last, very important thing. I’m now level 74, which means Dalaran!

So despite my tiredness, I hop on the boat back to Northrend. And once back in the land of ice, it’s only a minute or two before I find myself in Dalaran! Yes, I could have had a mage port me or a warlock summon me or a half dozen other ways to get to Dalaran before hitting 74, but doing it through the natural progression just feels nice. Of course, this means I now have to go find the trainers for tailoring or enchanting but I figure I’ll do it the next night. I’ll probably also move on to Grizzly Hills and Zul’Drak, but for now, sleep was the priority and that was it for the night.
