Lo-Quality Hunter: Quiet Weekend

Not much went on for my hunter. I tried getting into raids but usually they just dissolved. Nothing like dropping what I was doing, heading over to an instance and watching the raid dissolve while you were flying over there. So I actually just spent time either fishing so I would have the mats for Fish Feast and just running dailies for money.
I did get into one raid. A heroic Obsidian Sanctum run. However, this one was a bit different, it was decided to try it with one drake up. Since I’d never done it with any drake up, I thought it would be fun. Considering this was mainly the group that we had done a regular 25-man run with 15 players, I was happy they insisted on a full raid. Not only that, they also checked up on people. One guy, I don’t even remember who it was, had no cloak, no trinkets and all his gear was either blue or green, and not even high level blues and greens. Now, while I can forgive having crappy gear to some extent but to have completely empty equipment slots? At level 80? That’s terrible!
Once we were fully up, it was decided that we would keep Vesperon up. I was later told that usually you leave Shadron up but it wasn’t like I knew any better. And also not knowing any better, it was decided to just slam Sartharion as hard as possible and just let an off-tank hold the drake’s attention. We almost even pulled it off. We had Sartharion down to about 5% when the drake came by and slaughtered us. Looking through my log I saw that I had taken something like 16k damage in one shot…with 60k+ overkill.
Second try is pretty much the same. We check and we realize that part of the problem was that nobody was really healing the off-tank when the drake came down. We also changed positioning of where Sartharion was being tanked. Again we wiped and it was decided to try one last time, then just kill the stupid drake and get it over with. This time, I was able to stand on top of one of the little “islands†in the middle of the lava to shoot from. Which was fine, except that I guess standing there added to my graphics load. I saw the fire wall warning message come up, quickly looked to see which direction it was coming from, then lagged so bad that the next thing I saw was myself getting hit by the wall and dying.
And naturally that was the time we actually took them down. That’s usually how it works, I do things perfectly try after try and we fail, but the instant I die early, we complete it. I have no idea why. But I got my Heroic: Twilight Assist achievement and as an added bonus, my 100 Emblems of Valor. Considering I once thought 50 of the emblems would have been a stretch, that was a pretty nice achievement.
Otherwise, not much else I did as my hunter. I did finally realized that I’m maxed out on honor points. Considering there’s nothing I really want for honor points and hasn’t been for a while, that’s not really surprising. I also had saved up enough cooking awards to purchase the Chef’s Hat and get the related Cooking with Style achievement. I also started spending a bit of my other hard earned currency to buy a couple of heirloom shoulders and I’m considering picking up one or two of the weapons. Come to think of it, that’s probably why I ended up playing my lower level alts this weekend. Oh well. Guess I’ll see if I can slip onto a raid before tonight reset, just for the heck of it.
