Lo-Quality Hunter: Thanking the Agency

by on Jul.01, 2009, under Hunter

Once again it’s been awhile since I last did a WoW blog. It started when I took a trip back in April and got sick, which put me out of commission for a while. And after that, I just was not playing all that much. Oddly enough, a lot of other hunter blogs I had been reading also seemed to disappear for a while around the same time. Generally for various reason but it just seemed a bit odd. However, slowly but surely I’ve been playing regularly again, so I figured I blog a bit more.

Of course, in the past 3 months or so, quite a bit has happened. Achievements here and there as well as world events going on. I’d love to sit down and show all the achievements I got but I don’t quite have the patience to figure out what I got when and to link it all. Lazy aren’t I?

Now as for the title of this blog, I felt I needed to give a big acknowledgement to another guild on Draenor known as “the Agency”. Why? Because of some runs with them, I’ve finally managed to upgrade quite a bit of gear as well as finally finishing some encounters I’ve never been able to before. One of the other Plush Kitty Toys has apparently been doing raids with them for awhile and they were short on some people for some runs, and I was added in.

And boy was it beneficial to myself. First was a Heroic Naxxramas. I had already experience the construct, plague and arachnid quarters and the few other runs I did seemed to mainly hit those three. But on this run, I finally got to experience the military quarter as well as the two final bosses. It took two separate nights, which in itself was notable in that I was invited back the next night. In the past, if a Naxx or Karazhan ran more than one night, I would be left out on the subsequent night even if I had been topping the dps charts the night before.

But now I’m familiar with all the Naxx fights and didn’t cause any wipes myself. Also managed to do decent amount of dps, so it wasn’t like I wasn’t pulling my weight. Then the drops came and for some reason, a lot of mail was dropping. Oddly enough, I was the only hunter in the raid and I think there was only one other shaman as well, leaving us the main ones going for that gear. Now most times when I get picked up as a pug for a guild run, that guild would only let puggers get one drop and everything else gets disenchanted. Not with these guys, they actually were very generous with their loot rules. I do suspect that it partially because most of them had better gear already and partially because I was told that several of them were on alts and they’d rather see me on my main pick up a needed piece. Either way, I managed to pick up some nice upgrades.

Then another night they were doing a regular Ulduar run. Again my PKT guildmate was with them and offered to find another dps (myself) when they needed on. Considering he was threatened with castration if I sucked as dps, it was a bit of a risk both for himself personally and for the PKT reputation in general. Then seemed happy with my dps output and the one wipe I did cause (from backing up too far and pulling an additional group of mobs), I freely admitted my fault and didn’t try to weasel out of it. We only took down one boss and had trouble with a second boss but considering I didn’t think I’d ever get a chance at an Ulduar run at all, it was nice to learn those fights.

Then last night I was allowed to join them on a regular Vault, heroic Vault and a heroic Obsidian Sanctum run. On the Vault runs, both times we cleared Emalon, which I hadn’t been able to do with a pug yet. I also managed to pick up the tier 8 gloves and this time I wasn’t the only hunter, I just lucked out on my roll. But considering how badly other runs at Emalon I’ve been on has gone, it was nice to finally down him! As for the Obsidian Sanctum run, it was mainly noteworthy in that we managed to get the Heroic: Less is More achievement. And how we did it? With only 15 people, which I probably shouldn’t have been surprised by but I was. Of course the funny thing was, the reason we went in with 15 instead of a full 25 had more to do with people being too impatient to wait for more people than anything else.

And through all that I also managed to finally pick up enough Emblem of Valor to buy some other upgrades. So it’s been several worthwhile runs for myself and for them letting me tag along, it deserved acknowledgement. And frankly, considering they only had my guildmates word that I was a hunter and not a huntard, and they didn’t even have to let me roll on gear, it was very, very generous of them.

Let’s see, what else? I finally made it to a joint PKT and Solitaires Naxxramas run. Most of the members of both guilds are learning the fights and I’m not even sure how many of them participate with raids, but we made pretty nice progress, zapping through the arachnid quarter and half-way through the construct quarter. Hopefully we’ll do closer to a full run with the long weekend ahead.

Finished everything for the Midsummer world event. If anything, it was quite a bit of gold to be made running around playing with the bonfires. I also managed to get to represent all the Alliance factions in the Argent Tournament, another source of income I’ve needed lately. I’ll talk about the work I’ve done on my other alts as well but I might as well separate them out. After all, quite a bit goes on after 3 months. I don’t want to repeat myself by talking about it all here anyway.
