Lo-Quality Rogue: Now How Do I…ooh, a Turkey!

by on Apr.09, 2009, under Rogue

Now with my Warrior sitting at 80, I decided to start running up my rogue. Or at least run her up enough so that she can start opening those lockboxes the rest of the guild have been sending her. I should say the rest of the Plush Kitty Toys send her since she’s actually in her own guild.

Of course, the first hurdle I run into is trying to remember what all those buttons do. Now for almost all my other characters, there’s a macro I use as my “main attack” button. Not always the most graceful or complex of macros, but usually something that does one or two different things. So naturally I start by mashing the macro button I see on my rogue’s bar. Except I forget that what her macro does is switch between her sword and dagger and allow her to do a backstab attack. It’s mainly to be used in instances where there’s a tank to distract whatever I’m fighting, not for general one on one fights. Of course it takes me a minute to realize that I am apparently not killing the mob in front of me and I figure out what’s going on.

Then I sort of forget what those yellow dots on my radar now mean. Now my hunter usually has some sort of mob tracking on, so I’m used to that. My Warrior, being my enchanter and tailor, has no sort of resource tracking. So now that I’m on my rogue, I forget she now has herbalism tracking on. I rode past quite a few then later on was trying to figure out what the yellow dot was indicating when I didn’t see any creatures nearby. Gosh I’m going senile.

Then comes the other irritant of being a resource gatherer. I was riding through part of Borean Tundra when I see five or six yellow dots on my screen. I think “score!” and immediately head towards them. Only to discover that every one of them was tiger lily and needing 400 herbalism to gather, while my rogue was just sitting there at 380. Sometimes it just makes you want to pound your head.

So the first night of working with my rogue was mainly spent “re-learning” the class. Heck, it took me an hour to finally remember to stealth up on things. Yes, I just plain suck as a rogue.

Either way, I start going through quests. This time, I decide that in doing the quest chains, I was going to focus on factional quests. As such, I did the D.E.H.T.A. quests for awhile and also did the quest chain leading into Coldarra. At least I have an easier time grouping up several quests in the same area since I generally know which ones taking you to the same general place. And before I know it, I’m tipping over to lvl 71. Yay!

Then I decide I’ll go grab the Dragonblight and Howling Fjord flight points. You can never have too many flight points. Except I forgot how incredibly long it takes those silly turtles to show up. But I finally make it to the Fjord and grab the various FPs, when If figure, since I’m here, let’s go kill some turkeys! So I quickly slaughter a few and get the fun Friend or Fowl? achievement. Of course, what I didn’t know is that they had tweaked it a little. As soon as you get it, suddenly a pack of “Angry Turkey”’s come out and attack you. Fortunately, they’re not deadly because I was too busy laughing my head off to bother killing them.

So, once that was done, I head back to Stormwind to clean up a bit. I then saw that I finally sold some items in the AH, giving me enough for another tab in my guild! And then, instead of the “early to bed” plan I originally had, I ended up spending the next hour trying to get my guild bank organized. Because, as with real life, it started nice and orderly, and then I ended up saying “heck with it” and just put stuff where I could, so my guild bank was just a mess. WIth the third tab, I once again attempted to bring order from my chaos and that took quite a bit of time. But once that was done, sleep called and I answered!
