Lo-Quality Hunter: One Bony Dragon Down, One Undead Jerk To Go

I thought I hated Sindragosa when we were trying to kill her in normal mode. Heroic mode took my hatred to new and amazing heights. I just wish it had taken less time as well.
It was Monday night, which is usually an off night for us so it took us awhile to get started. In fact, we were just about to call it when my guildmate showed up. We geared up and headed out almost 45 minutes past our normal start time.
The fight was much the same yesterday. We had multiple people getting hit with the Ice Tomb, people getting slaughtered by the Frost Bombs and incidental deaths from Unchained Magic. In fact, we had all three on the first try!
During the air phase, our dps Druid got too close and got Ice Tombed. I then set myself up to be behind one tomb, dpsing the third when I got killed by the Frost Bomb. (Which confused me because I could have sworn I had both Ice Tombs between me and the bomb!) And I got battle-rezzed and died again in Phase 2 when someone with Unchained Magic huddled behind the Ice Tomb with the rest of us.
And it was a lot of the silly mistakes that killed us. While we’d get to Phase 2, usually we’d lose at least one person in Phase 1, requiring a battle-rez. People would then stand in the wrong place causing multiple Ice Tombs in Phase 2. Or people placing the Ice Tomb too far away that the tank couldn’t clear his stacks of Mystic Buffet correctly or too close where we couldn’t remove the stacks either! I know the latter happened when I was practically humping the Ice Tomb but couldn’t remove the stacks.
Eventually we got phase 1 down pat. That was even again with the Frost Bomb coming down practically on top of the Ice Tomb. Took awhile, but were getting our placements and timing down. I just wonder how many people were eating Frost Bombs in normal mode when they really shouldn’t have.
Phase 2 was our big obstacle. People were again getting Ice Tomb’ed because they stood too close to the target. And other times the guys with Unchained Magic wouldn’t clear their debuffs and would explode close enough to the rest of us to take us out.Â
A couple of times we also hit the Ice Tomb fast enough that the tank didn’t have time to clear the stacks. We eventually solved that problem by waiting until after the second Ice Tomb to start the switching tank game. Even then, we were still getting wiped over and over.
Which is why Sindragosa probably calls us “fools” during the opening monologue to th fight. We tried several adjustments but they just didn’t work. We were already about to head into our 20 of 50 heroic attempts when we decided to adjust the tanks position so that we can Ice Tomb at the same spots we do for the air phase.
And even then people were still getting multi-tombed! It really shouldn’t be that hard. If Sindragosa is facing East, the Ice Tomb is on the West side and you are West of it. Then vice-versa when Sindragosa was facing west. Everyone should be behind the blocks but people were still out in the open, next to where the next Ice Tomb was going to be!
But eventually we adjusted and I liked the new positioning as well. It made it hard for me to judge when I was out of range for the Blistering Cold but we reduced the timing and mistakes during the air phase, plus it greatly simplified the “too close/too far” issue.Â
And you know what? We finally pulled it off! With 13 of 50 tries left, we managed to finally score us our Heroic: The Frostwing Hall (10 player) achievement! Hell, the loot after that was more an afterthought than anything else.Â
So, we now sit at 11 of 12 bosses down in Heroic ICC 10-man. We were all worn out from that session that we didn’t even try Lich King. But to know we can do it was a big thing. I think it only bumped Palidrons only a few ranks on the guild ranking chart though. Then again, most of the guys in our 10-man are the old Schrödinger Cats people and me and my guildmate from Plush Kitty Toys, so you still have to take those rankings with a grain of salt.
I won’t be around for most of the 10-man run this week because of an upcomming trip, but from what I heard last night, they were mainly going to start going for achievements. I sort of want to be there for that as well but I could also use a big break from WoW.Â
I’m wondering if I should skip the 25-man runs as well. I do have other things to get done. Guess I’ll think about it.
